From November till May the wind picks up with a steady 20 Kts N to E wind. Sal is the biggest island and offers 3 main surf beaches: Santa Maria, Ponta Preta and Kite beach. Boa Vista offers a smaller beach breaks while Sao Vincente is a bad ass speed strip.
CONDITIONS
Santa Maria in Sal is a good beginners spot, while Kite beach demands more skills to manage the breaks. Only experts ride the world-famous Ponta Preta wave with off-shore winds...
FOOD & TRAVELLING
As these former Portugese colonies ar small and in the middle of the Atlantic, food is imported and pretty expensive. Don't expect much supermarkets or restaurants. Except from the tourist hotels, you will only find a few hostels, private rooms or camp places around.
